My name is Martina Loureiro, I was born in Brno, where I also completed a master's degree at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University, majoring in Special Education - Speech Therapy / Deaf Therapy. After graduating from university in 2007, I began to fully devote myself to speech pathology practice in healthcare, both with children and adult patients. At the same time, I further developed my expertise within the framework of postgraduate education at the Institute of Postgraduate Education in Healthcare, where I completed a specialization in Clinical Speech Therapy.
In 2013, I successfully passed the certification exam at the Subdepartment of Phoniatrics, Pedaudiology and Clinical Speech Therapy of the Phoniatrics Clinic of the General Hospital and the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. Subsequently, I took up the position of head of clinical speech therapy in an inpatient unit of a non-state healthcare facility. In cooperation with a multidisciplinary team (phoniatrist, neurologist, clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, RHB doctor), we carried out comprehensive diagnostics and set up individual therapeutic plans for a wide range of patients. At the same time, I provided professional guarantee and supervision to colleagues in pre-certification preparation and actively lectured within the field of Clinical Speech Therapy. As an external consultant, I visited patients after a stroke, hospitalized in the Hospital of the Brothers of Mercy and the Military Hospital in Brno, where I provided acute speech therapy care. I am a member of the association of clinical speech therapists.
Since 2024, I have been working in my own speech therapy clinic in Brno, Královo Pole district, where I am happy to welcome both children and adult clients. As a mother of two bilingual children, I am very close to a linguistically diverse environment, and this experience helps me better understand the specific needs of children growing up in a multilingual environment. Therefore, I also provide speech therapy in English, both to linguistically mixed families and to foreign clients and expats living in the Czech Republic who prefer therapy without language barriers.
